What's wrong with Skateboarding? (official thread)

The best part about skateboarding dying will be when cities stop building skateparks and considering skateboarders as a demographic that they are interested in accommodating. 

Where i live skateboarding is not popular like in the US. We may not have many parks but almost no one gives a fuck about us skating in the street or street spots. If someone tells anything we tell him we got the right to skate anywhere we want as we dont have many parks. Yeah dead skateboarding has some advantages too. Plus less popularity less jocks.

ED's so amazing but unfortunately it is true what he says. It ain't us it is "them". Seriously, there are only a few brands out there who are not owned by a multi-corporation asshole trying to sell us skateshoes while on the other hand he sells motherfuckin eastpak and wrangler stuff (just look up vf corporation and what they did to vans). I don't even blaim it on the sheckler's and all these dickheads because the fact is that if you couldn't earn a fat ass bank accounts with skateboarding there wouldn't be any sheckler's. Plain and simple. New kids in the game should try to look beyond what's on their shirt, shoes and boards. Supporting true brands which focus only on skateboarding (and not surf, snow, bmx, lifestyle shit) means supporting skateboarding. I'll tell you what's wrong with skateboarding: too much dickheaded companies.

i don't really care if the vans parent company puts cowboys in wranglers (or whatever), just as long as they keep putting vans on my feet.  but it sure would be great if there were less company's putting out skate stuff so that less kids can get one and start skateboarding.

I live in Norway, skateboarding is not very popular here, mostly because Norway is as far up north as almost possible, so it's more winter (with snow) than summer here. If you ask a random norwegian youth if they know what the berrics is, or what street league is, I think you will find the answers dissapointing.

The skateboarding brands what-so-ever is very popular, when it comes to clothing and shoes very many wear DC, Volcom, Nike SB, Fallen, Vox... you name it. And you find quite some skateboardshops around the country.

But what the hell am I talking about, I was really answering "what's wrong with skateboarding"? I think nothing's wrong with skateboarding except it's not big enough! I fucking hate soccer, tennis etc., I want more skateboarding, FMX, BMX and such on the TV here in Norway, and in the rest of Europe. Skateboarding has to expand, and no matter how big it's going to be, non-pros will always enjoy skateboarding as an hobby beside work and family-life. Skateboarding is the number one hobby and lifestyle I think anyone can have. It's creative, good exercise and awesome both alone and together with awesome friends.
