3rd & Army BBQ

Lowcard threw a Halloween bbq jam at the new spot and Dennis Busenitz, Pete Ramondetta, Peabody, Dan Pensyl, Roberto Aleman, and whole slew of others showed up and skated. BAD SHIT came out and played, and free brew, burgers, and dogs were on hand as well.

1031's FIRST TOUR

Kristian Svitak sent in some photos from the first 1031 tour ever. He assures us that there will be many more to come.

HALLOWEEN COSTUME SESSION

Halloween night heated up in the Mission, and a good session went down. Can you guess all the skaters in the costumes? You can win a brew if you get ’em all.

Roky Erickson played the Great American Music Hall in SF on Halloween. Here's a little blog of the night.

PETE THE OX IN MEMORY OF RUBEN

Vacation doesn't happen often when you're the web dude, but it’s a necessity. I’ll be out of the office all week, but don't fear, I dug out some old video clips from my archives for your daily viewing pleasure. Today, we'll start out with a guy who I've pretty much known longer then anyone else in the skateboard world. It's San Mateo’s own Pete the Ox Colpitts skating a pool in 1998, on a session dedicated to Ruben Orkin. Kind of eerie to see Curtis and Nealy (who are now both dead) also in the clip. Enjoy.

STREET CORPSEY

You can never get tired of Drehobl footage. I found all this stuff on one tape and thought it would be cool to look back at ol' Street Corpsey. There's also a li’l footage of Keegan Sauder here, when he was just an am skating for Real and helping me make the "How To" video.

November 7, 2007

TNT BOMB DROP

The date was October of 1999. I went down to film the Vans Triple Crown and got some footage of the contest, including Tony Trujillo jumping out of the stands about 20- feet from the ground. Well, let’s just let Trujillo tell the story.

GRECO GETS COVER'D

The first time I met Jim Greco was when he came up and shot his Thrasher cover. By now, everyone's seen the switch frontside flip in the Baker video, but not many know about the pain and suffering that went into getting that cover shot. He was up here for over a week. Check the different gear and watch the slams. Say what you want, but Greco's got more dedication and determination than most. The hi-jinx of Jim is truly amazing.

POOL SCHOOLIN'

Takin' it to the weekend with two clips today. Some serious pool shredding by Wade Speyer in the Strawberry pool circa 1999. Then, for you art fags out there, I found some Super-8 footage that I digitized of Julien Stranger, Jake Phelps, and Tommy Guerrero at a gem we found in Hillsborough, probably around the same era.

BURNSIDERS

The first time I saw Red and Choppy skate Burnside was insane. Red skates with so much power, and Choppy had a loose-enough style that he could get away with some unimaginable lines. This footage is from October of 1998 and is all from the same tape, it still holds its own almost 10 years later.

A GLORIOUS DAY

Sometimes skateboarding involves not skateboarding, and that’s what happens when you take a spill in the drink. Will can skate this pipe pretty damn good, and you gotta love cold ones and fishing. Cheers.

PLAN B?

Jake came down with this 1997 gem today... "The end of Plan B means the end of vert. Think vert sucks? Check Colin McKay and Danny Way going to work on the old Plan B ramp. Hesh vs fresh? Who fucking cares? Tailgrab 7, three-flip 5-0 for real. Metal Militia, Four Horsemen, ahhhh PS: How'd that Madonna taste?" -Jake
