After speaking with Matt Field and finding out that Novato had a skatepark and that it was his favorite park in California; I had to go. After one step out of the car I knew I was in for a ride. This park has ledges, banks and a big bowl to get shralpy in and I loved it. It's only a half hour out of the city and very close to one of my favorite locations: Muir Woods. Be on the look out for George Lucas as well, his multimillion dollar studio where Star Wars was created overlooks the park.
WHAT: A cement skatepark with bowls, banks, a quarterpipe and some ledges.
GOOD: I like the coping a lot and the kids that skate there are cool and know who Gabe Morford is.
PADS: It says full pads, but I just rolled right in. I wasn't there long enough to see if anything was enforced.
ADDRESS: 1385 N Hamilton Pkwy, Novato, CA 94949
HOW TO FIND IT: Take 101 northbound past Muir Woods and Lucas Valley rd. into the city of Novato. Take the Nave Dr. exit and keep right at the fork. Merge onto Nave Dr. and look for Main Gate Rd. Turn right on Main Gate Rd. and go straight, the road turns into Palm Dr. Then turn left on Hamilton and the park will be on the right hand side about half a mile up.
