Titty City

The Van Doren Invitational at the Vans US Open 2013.

Posted: July 29, 2013

How Sinclair dresses for the beach.

Unabomber sport, I think it's called.

A crush of half naked humanity, just like the Tempster told us about. There must have been, like, 40,000 tits there!!!

Inside the courtesy tent, a flood of friendly faces.

Dunk!

Later, on deck. Dun-dun-dunnnn!!!!

Bros everywhere. Vested and otherwise!

Masterlensmen, side by side.

Zack Miller, one of two pro skaters who live in my neighborhood, with some Brazilian heavyweights.

Ol' blue eyes.

Jus' anotha day at werrk for the Gentry boys.

Jaws enters the arena in an X-treme fashion.

Fitting.

I didn't even need to change lenses to start capturing stoke! Sky time aplenty!

R Spence goin' coconuts.

Riley, on that Sigafoos tip. Bold move.

Double C kicks North.

'Yeah I used to skate the Blockhead bowl. You know, right. The Blockhead bowl?'

Ben on egg flip duty.

Better angle. Nice!

540 club started early.

Omar flexing local.

Never seen Charlie Blair before but this dude can float!

Shep Dawgs!!!

Dario from Argee flew hecka fish.

Oh shit. Trunk Boyz.

The legendary Alain G floats Choppy grab.

The non-psychotic Merlino.

'Damn. I hope I don't get one of those ...'

Russo, crip walkin' out the bowl.

Loy!

Ronnie from Pedro made the cut.

Double R with a double grab. Damn!

It took five attempts to get a portrait Mike Smith was happy with.

He's actually quite handsome for a punker his age.

Your favorite skater, Raney Beres, was there. Ripping all weekend.

Traditional indy.

Jaws, scoping for drop.

I got to use my good flashes for 15 minutes at the end. Here's Greyson, your other new favorite skater, with one of his drawn out ollies.

Judo 540. Flat spin.

Borst indy. Murf indy?

Cross over. Nice.

TNT powering a slob.

Tom bones a BK air and then they kicked us out.

Day 2. A lay of the land. Children's bowl. Check.

Dusty ol' fairway.

Special surfing coverage!

That pier that guy's always traipsing.

Cleared course.

Alfaro and Phelper exchanging niceities.

Oh you know Jim and his Jam are the first ones in the bowl.

Tony gets it in early, too.

Soon enough the kids show up to seatbelt.

This one's a kicklfip.

Sears portrait studio time.

Buffet's on.

Assault on the big wall. Double K hurricanes.

Insane.

Insaner.

Hosoi was in the finals and killing it!

Always time for the fans.

Whooo-whooo!!!

Pedro blasted the biggest. Wow.

Skateboarding's cutest couple. Get a puppy, you two!

Fs invert with Ronnie.

Yes.

Boom!

Kicky lip.

Rowan squeaked into the semis on his first pro outing. Not bad!

The press had a field day on Curren's one footer.

Butt shots are a bad idea, but wow.

The crowd has Hosoi's back, for sure.

Speaking of.

Nice turnout. Lots of skaters in HB.

Final finals.

Where was Iomi?

Air time extreme.

Hot move! Gap to lip.

The finals were bananas and truth be told I mostly just watched the insanity. Wait until you see Schmitty's video. You'll see what I mean.  The crowd was 110% behind Greyson Fletcher. Raven, Hatchell, Raybourn, TNT, it was nuts.

Best trick blast offs.

Jaws made it in the end, of course.

Didn't think Raney's gap was possible.

Look at his face and you'll know it was.

The celebratory crush.

Like, whoah.

Hard.

Where's Joey's hug?

We were all tripping.

Awards time.

Top three.

Hatchell took it. Nobody was bummed.

Really great contest. Thanks Vans bros and all you shredders! This one was especially fun. Real nice.

But back on the beach. Police-escorted butt cheeks.

Tension in the air.

Foreshadowing.

Things were about to get weird, but don't blame the skaters.

All we wanna do is ride....
