The Rookies: Brandon Westgate
"He's extremely capable"

Posted: May 5, 2010

When we go to the spot, there’s usually an obstacle you’re gonna skate—a handrail, a bump, a set of stairs. Brandon’s best option is usually, whatever the obstacle is, to just ollie the entire thing. If it’s a bump over a bar and then there’s a curb 10 feet after that, my best option is to plop off of the drop; his best option is to ollie all the way to the street. I’m gonna say Brandon can ollie at least four feet off flat. He’s probably one of the highest olliers in the world, and he’s a little guy. He’s also one of those guys who can do anything. Every time we see him we’re all, “What’ve you been doing back home?” and he’s like, “Oh, I just re-tiled my entire kitchen,” or, “I just re-built this pick-up truck.” When we go on an Emerica camping trip he’s the first guy to go in the woods, build the fire, and get the camp set up. He’s extremely capable. —Andrew Reynolds
