Exactly.

Put some fucking work in. You're not entitled to doing everything properly the first time.

I'm from the east coast and didn't see the crazy level of skating in the cities, especially of the west coast. It takes time. It took me two years to learn kickflips. After 14 years of skating, it's all about the longevity. Don't get hurt. If you do, get back to it when you have healed.

A while back when I was learning a mate showed me a good practice technique where you lean on a barrier or wall.
I found it alot easier to learn ollies and kickflips this way.
Although it also does kinda make you rely on the rail so once you get the motion down start practicing without it.

There are a host of videos to help you out on YouTube, e.g. Braillle Skateboarding. I don't see the video, but I'm going to assume you have a low ollie. I suggest putting in the time now to really practice and perfect the ollie. It's like math, if you don't have down that foundational trick you won't progress properly. In regard to the low ollie, again, YouTube it. If you notice bad habits like not lifting your back leg or not sliding up the nose with your front foot, that'll kill them. There are other factors, but these are a start.
