and now they wanna take away your miniramps.

check it out:

Quote
Whether you own a backyard ramp or just like to skate them, this will
affect you!  Here's info on the new proposed ordinance that will
essentially ban all backyard ramps in Oceanside.    Today Oceanside,
tomorrow another another city.

Attached is the proposed zoning text amendment.   The item will be
heard at the Dec. 3rd Planning Commission meeting.

Come show your support for backyard ramps or get ready to tear your
ramp down or hack it down to knee height.

One concern I have though is giving them our addresses which could
potentially be turned into code enforcement.  Nobody should get up and
say they have a ramp in their own back yard, just that they support
backyard ramps and that this ordinance is BS.  Where did they come up
with 30 inches?  It's like out of nowhere saying basketball hoops can
only be 5' tall or swimming pools can only be 2' deep.

Thanks Rick Rey and Tim T. for the heads up on this.  Please forward
to your local friends.

Dave Bergthold

Proposed Addition to Oceanside Zoning Ordinance Section 3005:

G. Skateboard Ramps:  Any structure located on private residential
property  which is used for the purpose of riding or propelling a
skateboard must  meet the following guidelines:

 1. The structure may not exceed 120 square feet in floor area or 30
inches in height.
 2. The structure may not be located in a required rear or side yard
setback area or be located in any area between the front building line
of a residential structure and the front property line.
 3. The structure may not be located within 20 feet of any residential
structure on an adjacent property.
 4. The structure must be designed to minimize noise disturbance to
surrounding properties and be operated in compliance with the
provisions of the City Noise Ordinance (City Code - Chapter 38).

This section also applies to all pre-existing skateboard ramps on
private  residential property. Non-conforming ramps shall be brought
into  compliance with this section within 60 days of its adoption.

so if you live in north county, and you don't got to this meeting, you are pretty much on the kook list.

the biggest problem with that is the money lost when they tear down the ramps.... a lot of those ramps are fuckin expensive.... so im pretty sure it could be disputed in a state or federal court.

So dig a hole and call it a pool. There's no ordinance that says you must "swim" in it.

30 grand for what? Surely not a bowl. Grab a shovel. Rebar is cheap. So is 'crete. Having someone else build is NOT.
