The Cohoes Skatepark is a small park in a small town outside of Albany. The park has a few boxes, 4 or 5 rails of varying heights, and a funbox with rail with a 4 foot quarter pipe.
GOOD: This park is FREE, and open from dawn until dusk. It is a great place for beginners to learn to drop in and ride the quarter, but has enough obstacles to keep a more advanced skater busy. Kids in the area are usually pretty cool, and it's nice if you have an hour or two to skate and don't want to pay for a full session at an indoor park.
BAD: If you are looking for big air, and lots of obstacles, this isn't the place for you. It is an outdoor park, so weather can impact your skate time. There is also the occasional crew of kids that bring BMX bikes, and get in the way of all the skaters. Another small con is that the park is paved with blacktop, not concrete, so it might not be as fast as you are used to in an indoor or concrete park.
PADS: The sign says that pads and helmets are required, but there hasn't been an attendant for a few years.
ADDRESS: Bevan street, in Cohoes NY, 12047
HOW TO FIND IT: Get directions to the Cohoes Middle School, the skatepark is located just past the soccer fields behind the school.
